Auto

What auto insurance does North Carolina require?
Per the North Carolina Department of Insurance: "Starting July 1, 2025, for all new or renewed policies on or after that date, the minimum limits for bodily injury will be increased to $50,000 per person and $100,000 per accident and the minimum limits for property damage will be increased to $50,000." Flood & Coastal

Does homeowners insurance cover flood?
No. The North Carolina Department of Insurance: "Homeowners insurance policies do not cover flood damage." Flood is a separate policy, through the National Flood Insurance Program or a private flood insurer. Source: ncdoi.gov/consumers/homeowners-insurance/flood-insurance.
How soon does a flood policy start?
The North Carolina Department of Insurance: "The coverage involves a 30-day waiting period before the policy becomes effective; however, there are exceptions." Ask about the exceptions before you count on one.
Can you insure a house on the water?
Not every carrier writes coastal property. Associates For Insurance Services works to identify available options based on your property's location, use, construction, and coverage needs. Send us the address and the basics and we will tell you what we find.

Mobile homes

Do you insure mobile homes and park models?
Yes. Mobile homes in parks and on their own lots, and park models in the parks near the beaches, are written on their own policy forms, in North Carolina and South Carolina. Have the year, the make and model, and whether the home is on a permanent foundation and tied down. Putting the home and the household's autos on one review is usually the right way to do it.

Working with us

Where is your office?
Cedar Point, North Carolina. Weekdays 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM, weekends by appointment. Call (910) 421-2180; the street address is at the foot of every page.
Where do you serve?
North Carolina, including the coast, and South Carolina. Most of the agency's work today is in Carteret and Onslow counties: Cedar Point, Cape Carteret, Emerald Isle, Swansboro, Jacksonville, Newport, Morehead City and Atlantic Beach. In South Carolina, including the Greenville area: landlord and rental dwellings, small contractors, restaurants and taverns, and flood coverage.
Do you work with real estate agents and mortgage lenders?
Yes. Homeowners and landlord policies are written statewide in North Carolina. Send us the address and the closing date and we quote the policy and get the evidence of insurance to the closing attorney and the lender.
What should I have ready for a quote?
For a home: the address, year built, roof age and your current declarations page if you have one. For a mobile home: the year, make and model and whether it is tied down. For a car: the drivers, the vehicles and your current policy. For a business: what you do, where you work, whether you have employees or subcontractors, and the vehicles and equipment you use. Missing something? Start anyway; we will ask.
